See More From Your Mammogram — See the Heart Behind It.

Smarter Screening Starts Here.

Mammo with Heart uses an FDA-cleared AI screening to detect signs of breast arterial calcifications (BAC) during routine mammograms — offering valuable insights into heart health without any extra scans or appointments.

Why This Matters:

  • Leading Cause of Death: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the number one killer of women in the United States and worldwide.
  • Prevalence: Approximately 44-45% of women in the U.S. are living with cardiovascular disease.
  • Early Insight: The presence of arterial calcifications on a mammogram may provide valuable information about cardiovascular risk- insights that otherwise might go unnoticed until later in life.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Mammo with Heart?

Mammo with Heart is an FDA-cleared, artificial intelligence (AI) based software intended to detect the presence or absence of breast arterial calcifications (BAC), a calcium build-up in the arteries of the breast and a potential indicator of increased cardiovascular disease risk..

Why does Breast Arterial Calcification (BAC) matter?

Based on current research and published literature, Breast Arterial Calcifications (BAC) is currently considered to be a benign incidental finding to breast cancer screening. However, there is growing evidence that it is associated with other vascular calcifications. Patients identified with BAC may be candidates for additional cardiovascular screening by their physician.

Will someone talk to me about the results?

The radiologist will include the findings in your mammogram report, and your physician can explain what it means for you personally. If anything’s noted, it is a good idea to discuss it with your physician.

How is it detected on my mammogram?

The cmAngio software reads your mammogram images to determine the presence or absence and location of Breast Arterial Calcification. An expert radiologist will review your results to confirm the findings.

Are there any exclusions to be aware of, or can anyone opt in?

Currently, patients with breast implants are excluded.

How often should I get this assessment?

We recommend you repeat the screening every year with your annual mammogram.

Is it covered by insurance?

Like many new healthcare products, Mammo with Heart is not currently covered by insurance. However, out-of-pocket cost may be paid using your HSA for FSA account.

Can I have this test on a previous screening mammogram?

Yes, we can process Mammo with Heart on a previous screening mammogram performed at a ProScan Pink Ribbon Center.

Mammo with Heart utilizes cmAngio®, an FDA-cleared artificial intelligence (AI) detection software, to determine the presence or absence of breast arterial calcification (BAC) as an incidental finding in standard-view screening mammograms. The cmAngio® software is not FDA-cleared for use with screening mammograms that require displacement or alternative views; therefore, Mammo with Heart is not available to patients who need alternative views for their screening. The detection of BAC indicates calcium buildup within the breast arterial wall. While BAC has been associated with an increased risk of coronary heart and cardiovascular disease, its presence or absence does not constitute a diagnosis and should not be used alone to determine cardiovascular risk. Results from Mammo with Heart may support further clinical evaluation or patient management at the discretion of a primary care physician, cardiologist, or other specialist. If BAC is detected, please consult your healthcare provider for additional information, assessment, or treatment options.
